Ms. Mathumai Kaneesh is a graduate in Biosystems Technology from the University of Jaffna, where she graduated with Second Class (Upper Division) Honours (OGPA 3.50/4.00) specializing in Commercial Green Farming Technology. An outstanding academic performer from an early stage, she achieved the 8th District Rank in the G.C.E. Advanced Level Biosystems Technology Stream, reflecting her commitment to academic excellence and perseverance.

Mathumai is passionate about youth empowerment, leadership development, education, and community engagement. She believes in equipping young people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to become responsible leaders and active contributors to society.

She gained valuable professional experience through a six-month industrial internship at the Regional Agricultural Research and Development Centre (RARDC), Kilinochchi, where she conducted laboratory analyses, soil and water testing, field research, and supported agricultural research projects. She later served as a Temporary Demonstrator at the Faculty of Technology, University of Jaffna, assisting undergraduate students in laboratory practicals, workshops, and academic assessments while providing technical guidance and mentoring.

In addition to her academic and research accomplishments, Mathumai has demonstrated leadership throughout her educational journey, serving as a Senior Prefect and Speaker of the Student Parliament during her school years. She possesses strong communication, facilitation, organizational, and interpersonal skills and is proficient in computer applications, report writing, and documentation. With additional qualifications in English, Sinhala, and Information Technology, she is well equipped to work with diverse communities and multidisciplinary teams.

As a Training Coordinator and a Master Trainer / Resource Person, Mathumai contributes to the design and delivery of leadership development, life skills, and community engagement programmes for school students and youth. She is committed to nurturing confident, resilient, and socially responsible young leaders while promoting sustainable development and positive community transformation.
